Aerial Yoga
- From restorative to HIIT, this unique form of yoga utilizes silk hammocks to allow for inversions, decompression, and more. Read more at Valkyrie Fitness.
- High intensity, 104F heat, alignment, breath, and longer held positions. I teach this as hatha/asana dominant.
- Lyrical movement coupled with breathwork, high focus on balance, proprioception, awareness, and transitions
- A structured 26 set series of postures to work predominately lower body and the back. Good for beginners as a consistent introduction to yoga postures, although can be quite challenging.
- Anchoring the mind, breathwork, mantras, neigong, moving meditations, bhakti, stillness, koshas, self awareness, and more.
- Generally restorative, comfortable, and/or propped positions held for 3-10 minutes to allow for deeper opening of the physical body, relaxing into the physical body, and breathwork. Meditation techniques are often used in conjunction with class. The main concept is to let go of the muscle layer (let go of the tension or activation of), which directly correlates to the tension in/of your mind.
- Poses to actively and passively open the body, generally props are used. Often times this is interchangeable with yin; however yin is restorative, restorative is not always yin. Restorative speaks to the body returning (to the best of our ability) to alignment.
